AARP Defensive Driving — Spring and fall classes at the library. Please check the library calendar for the class schedule.

AARP Tax Assistance – Volunteers from the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) assist those who would like help preparing their tax returns.  February 1 through April 15, Monday and Tuesday, 10-2 p.m.

Adult Book Discussion – The KVL Book Group celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2012.  Established in 1982, it is the longest-running literary discussion group in Northern Westchester County.  The group, led by Assistant Director Virginia Fetscher, meets every third Wednesday at 8 p.m.  Copies of the selected books and schedules are available on the main floor.  The books are always fiction, with a fair distribution between male and female authors, and a range of publication dates from the nineteenth century up to a few months ago. The informal discussions explore plot, character, motivation, and language before moving on to the author’s biographical facts and literary criticisms.  Please drop by and pick up our next selection.

Great Decisions – “Great Decisions” is the public outreach program of the Foreign Policy Association, a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to stimulating curiosity and learning about foreign affairs in our ever-changing world. The Katonah Chapter meets at the library about a dozen times a year to host informed presentations and lively nonpartisan discussions about foreign policy topics of critical interest.

All Chapter meetings are scheduled for Tuesday mornings in the Garden Room on the lower level, commencing at 10:15 and running for about two hours. Guests and prospective members are warmly welcomed at chapter meetings. For more information please contact Harry Stanton 914-962-3756 or

Katonah Poetry Series – For over 45 years, the Katonah Poetry Series has hosted nationally and internationally acclaimed poets in the friendly and intimate setting of Katonah Village Library. Each reading includes a question-and-answer session and is followed by a reception and book signing.  Among the distinguished poets who have appeared over the years are six Poets Laureate of the United States and fourteen winners of the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. Billy Collins, Poet Laureate of the United States 2001-2003, directed the series for many years and currently acts as an advisor. See the KPS website at for the schedule of readings.

Katonah Village Improvement Society –  The Katonah Village Improvement Society is a community service organization which sponsors, supports, and maintains projects and programs to foster an appreciation for the history and traditions of the Village of Katonah. KVIS activities include Town Clean-Up Day, Town Forum, an annual wine-tasting benefit, and a film series at the Katonah Village Library.
